April is EARTH MONTH at Wheatland Elementary!
You and your family are invited to participate in these Earth-saving events for the month of April, and beyond!
April 1 - WWF EARTH HOUR: Each class is challenged to turn off the lights/devices in their classroom for AT LEAST 1 hour on April 1st. This includes Phantom Power (items that remain plugged in even when they aren’t in use). Plan a special Earth Hour at home one day in April!
April 19 - 23 - Make the Switch! Classes will be working extra hard to conserve energy this week by remembering to turn off lights, monitors, and other electronics when they aren’t in use. Families are also encouraged to Make the Switch at home!
April 22 - Earth Day! Students will be synergizing to clean up our school yard and community! Consider doing your own Earth Day clean up in your neighbourhood, planting a garden or a tree!
April 26 - 30 - Walk or Roll to School Week! Students and teachers are encouraged to walk/bike/scooter/rollerblade to school this week to reduce the amount of cars on the roads. If you live far away and need to take a bus/drive, they can participate in their own community by going for a bike ride or taking a walk to their local store/mailbox.
As always, every Wednesday is Wasteless Wednesdays! Students are encouraged to bring a snack/lunch that contains as little to no waste as possible!
