As we enter the Christmas Season, we often look for ways to reach out and help those in need. In lieu of teacher gifts this year, we invite our families to participate in “Jump into Jammies, Socks, Slippers or Stuffies community service event.”
This program is in support of the Strathmore Crisis Shelter. Approximately 350 children, aged infant to teenagers pass through the shelter each year. These children often arrive with very few personal belongings. By giving a child in need a new pair of pajamas, socks, slippers or a stuffie (new addition this year) we can help them feel comfortable and cared for, as they go through a difficult time in their lives. Each student is welcome to bring their donation to their classroom. Grade 5A students will collect from December 11 - 22, 2017 and also use this data to complete a math unit on measurement. We will celebrate this event on December 22 when all students will be invited to wear their own jammies, slippers and bring stuffies too. Thank-you for helping to make a difference in our community!
Recommended sizes of jammies based on needs of the Crisis Shelter:
Preschool: Girls and Boys Size 13 – 18 months
Kindergarten Girls and Boys Size 2 and 2T
Grade 1 - 2: Boys and Girls Size 7-8 (small)
Grade 3- 4: Boys and Girls Size 14 (large)
Grade 5 - 6: Boys and Girls Size 16 (large)
If you choose socks or slippers – please bring your child’s own size. New stuffies welcome too!
